SplashTiles InfoSignage

Example file:  infodisplay_wide.html  (right click and "save as" to download file, edit, then upload to NetPlay Manager)

The documentation below can help you quickly and easiely design your own custom dynamic SplashTile pages.  Video Storm also offers custom design services (hourly based) for html or php development.  Please order using this product.  Dakboard (below) also provides a easy cloud based setup which provides many features without needing to write html code.

SplashTile pages are fully interactive.  We recommend using a standard mini wireless touchpad/keyboard remote for best ease of use.  The touchpad and left button are used to scroll and select.  The ESC key is used to go back to previous pages.  The D-pad doubles as the normal remote control for accessing NetPlay sources & menus.

Google Calendar:

Google calender is a great way to keep your days organized.  Any calander can be embedded including options for shared calenders and private events.

For more information and instructions on creating your custom link see Google Calender Embedding Help

Google maps (including traffic):

Google maps can provide real time traffic information to your NetPlay displays.  The Google map API allows you to select your geographic region and set the map type and parameters you would like displayed.  The end result is an iframe link you can add to your html file (see our example).

For more information and instructions on creating your custom link see Google Maps Embedding Help

Google documents:

You can use Google Docs to place any files in the cloud and view them directly via NetPlay.  Simply create your document in Google Docs and then use "Publish to Web" under the File menu.  Add the provided iframe link to your html file (see our example).  This is useful to create dynamic content which will automatically synchronize to all your TVs.

Google Slide Shows can be used to create fast and easy to maintain digital signage.  Please see our tutorial video.

For more infomation see Google Docs Help

Web videos or cameras:

Add IP cameras to your NetPlay display for critical monitoring.  Web video feeds or files can also be added to create the effects you want.  Both are added using iframe commands (see our example for details).  For best performance, use quality levels corresponding to the screen size they will cover.  Video performance using web pages is lower than normal NetPlay video, so if you need better quality add the feed as a NetPlay source (tiled/overlay/etc) instead.

For IP cameras, you will get best performance by fetching jpegs rather than a live feed.  We have included a javascript example of this.  You can also sequence through cameras using the same method.

Weather:

There are many different weather reporting and forcasting services you can add to your page.  See our example for one option.

Transparent pages:

Whenever a web url is loaded as a PIP overlay, the background will be transparent.  To support this transparency to your pages, you should set the body background to a non-zero alpha (1.0 for fullly transparent).  Please see the transparent.html file on your virtual matrix for examples.

Web apps and CGI:

SplashTiles supports HTML5, javascript, and WebGL apps.  These can range from fully interactive applications to dynamic 3d data visualization or many others.  The "matrix.html" web source included on your virtual matrix is one example using HTML5.  The "logo.html" web source included on your virtual matrix show how to create a spinning transparent CGI spinning logo using three.js and WebGL.  Other live online examples can be found at https://www.chromeexperiments.com/webgl.  A global real time interactive weather model is one of our favorites http://www.meteoearth.com.

News, Facebook, and RSS:

FeedWind (feed.mikle.com) is the best way to easily add news or Facebook feeds.  Simply create an account on their site, select the feeds and format you would like to display, and then create and copy the iframe code to your html page.

To-Do lists:

Wunderlist can be embedded in your page to keep your queue in check.  Create your list on their site, publish it, then insert the list address and name in an iframe like this "<iframe src="https://www.wunderlist.com/lists/121067308" width="100%" height="500" name="My list">"

Home automation control/status:

ActionTiles:  ActionTiles is a versitle method of home automation control that can be added to your SplashTiles page.  ActionTiles works with the Samsung SmartThings Hub and all the devices it can control (lighting, locks, thermostats, etc).  You will need to setup an account with Actiontiles.com to get started.  Once setup, you can embed your ActionTiles control panels in your html files using an iframe.  You can also directly make them a NetPlay source to use with PIP and Tiling.  ActionTiles does require each TV to login once.  If you would like to control the ActionTiles as well as view them, we recommend using a mini Bluetooth keyboard/touchpad to select and toggle your tiles.

Other:  Any control system that provides a web based control panel can be integrated.  Just add the control panel URL as a page or iframe in a page.

Cloud based digital signage:

Dakboard:  Dakboard provides an easy to setup information screen (no html programming required) including photos, weather, calendars, etc.  All you have to do is setup an account and configure your page using a web browser (dakboard.com).  Then under account settings, find your "private url".  Enter this URL as a web URL source in virtual matrix source setup

How to setup your SplashTiles Web sources

  1. Create your html page (using examples above).  If you are using an external web page only, skip to step 3.
  2. Load your html page onto NetPlay Manager and then copy the URL for that page.
  3. In Source Config, create a new source and make it type "Web URL" using the URL for the page.

Remember you should update the firmware on NetPlay Manager prior to using SplashTiles.  SplashTiles web feeds are not supported and will not display on VRX010 and VRX020.
