NetPlay Home provides several options for centrally mananged and controlled music distribution.

1. If you have rack mounted "centralized" audio, you will use our CMX3838A2 DSP audio matrix with NetPlay Audio for all your music distribution to your centrally wired speakers.  If you also have a few zones you want audio but do not have speakers wired, you can use the Logitech Media Server players option below with your CMX switch as the server (with full control integration).

2. If you have "distributed audio" (speakers are NOT wired back to a central rack), you can play music from your NetPlay decoder to your TV speakers, sound bar, or attached AVR in each room

   • Use a central audio server with all your NetPlay decoders as player devices.  Video Storm provides drivers for Logitech Media Server based systems.  Several other systems (Roon, Spotify, etc) also can be used.  Make sure the Android player app can be remotely controlled by the server.  Then install the player app on your decoders and name them appropriately.  The LMS player apps we recommend are SqueezePlayer (Android, FireOS) or SB Player (Android TV).  Control is handled by driver integration with your home automation system.  Alternatively, you can also control these systems using the control apps on your smart phone or tablets.

   • Music can also be streamed directly from your smart phone to any / all of your NetPlay decoders using GoogleCast (or Miracast on FireTV devices).  This is an easy and flexible way to play your music throughout your home without any additional hardware or setup.  Control is handled directly by your smart phones.

3. If you have "distributed audio" (speakers are NOT wired back to a central rack), you can instead use a separate wireless audio system, such as Alexa, Sonos, Google Home, etc.  In this case, music will be played using that system independantly from your audio for video (TV speakers, etc).  Voice control is the preferred control method with these systems.  NetPlay Home itself can also be controlled via voice using our free Alexa skill.
